Why Are Dental Crowns Needed?
Dental crowns are custom-made to fit your teeth to correct dental problems. They are a permanent solution to protect and strengthen teeth.
Crowns are ideal for individuals who have:
- A broken or cracked tooth
- A tooth with a large filling in it
- Had a root canal recently
- Severe sensitivity issues
- An older crown that needs replacement
Are Dental Crowns Ideal for Me?
Experienced dentists at Sage Dental conduct a basic evaluation to determine if you are an ideal candidate for dental crowns. Dental crowns are custom-made and are long-term solutions that look natural. Patients don't have to visit the clinic more than once to complete the procedure. We offer same-day CEREC crowns to permanently restore the tooth, avoiding the need for a follow-up or second appointment.
What to Expect During the Dental Crown Procedure?
At first, the dentist numbs the gum and surrounding area by administering local anesthetics. Then, the dentist prepares the damaged tooth by filing it down. For ceramic and porcelain crowns, they will take a copy of the crown's shape to make a new one.
For same-day CEREC crowns, a digital impression of the crown is put into our CEREC machine to make the new crown while you wait. After the permanent crown is placed, it is filed and shaped to give a natural feeling.
