Comfortable Care With Sedation Options

At Sage Dental, we want you to feel comfortable and at ease while we make sure your teeth are in great shape. That’s why we offer an array of relaxing sedation options for our patients, ranging from gentle laughing gas to IV sedation.

Each year, millions of adults in the U.S. avoid dental visits due to fear or anxiety. While our state-of-the-art office and friendly dental team strive to create a welcoming and comfortable environment, we understand that some patients require additional support to relax during treatments.

Take the first step toward a healthier, more radiant smile by giving us a call. We’ll explain our sedation options, address any concerns you may have, and help you plan for your first appointment.

Sedation Options for Dental Procedures

  • Nitrous Oxide Sedation: Nitrous oxide sedation is inhaled through the nose during treatment, providing patients with a calm, euphoric sensation. Our dental team closely monitors the sedation and can adjust the dosage as needed throughout the procedure. The effects of nitrous oxide take effect quickly and wear off almost immediately, enabling patients to resume their normal activities after treatment.
  • Intravenous Sedation: Intravenous (IV) sedation involves administering sedatives through an IV, combining the benefits of both nitrous oxide and oral conscious sedation. This method provides the safety of in-office sedation with the deeper effects of oral sedatives. The dosage of IV sedation can be adjusted during the procedure, and its effects last longer. As with oral sedation, patients will need a trusted friend or family member to drive them to and from our office.

Benefits of Sedation Dentistry

Almost everyone experiences some anxiety before visiting a doctor, but if fear prevents you from seeing a dentist altogether, sedation dentistry may be the solution. If you experience any of the following, our treatments can help reduce discomfort and enhance your overall experience:
  • Previous traumatic dental experience
  • Sensitive gag reflex
  • Sensitive teeth
  • Difficulty getting numb
  • High anxiety level
  • Fear of needles or other dental tools
  • Discomfort with the sounds, tastes, and/or scents associated with dental treatment
